Can't let today go by without passing on my prayers to the families and friends of our Fallen Four, young RCMP members who lost their lives in Mayerthorpe, AB a year ago today.
I've seen interviews with their survivors. They bear the same grief as a year ago, although not as sharp and raw. Disbelief has been replaced by acceptance and sadness.
These young men were killed by the town bully, a 50 something man, who had, his whole life, been feared. A bully as a boy, he continued to bully as the court system failed to stop him, time and time again. He was unstable, dangerous and vocal in his flaunting of community and moral standards, yet always, was set back into this community by the courts. He killed himself that day. The true cowardice of a bully.
Families are meeting with our new Justice Minister, in the near future. This anniversary should not be noted with flowers. It should be noted with calls to your MP, for them to support and addresses concerns within our justice system.
Honor these heroes with your voice.

How sad. I didn't hear anything about that tragedy down here. Not surprising, the US Media doesn't care about anything that does not affect the US.... (Can you tell I don't like the US Media?) May those brave officers rest in peace...

I am sorry to hear about such a sad tragedy. Unfortunately, we hear of these type of things happening all the time in California. It even reaches us sometimes in Nevada.
