The Purple Rabbit
I remember this from my childhood, and mom was thoughtful enough to save it in my scrapbook. She knew it meant alot to me.
I used to go to Sunday School and one Easter we were handed pictures of a rabbit, and invited to colour them. I immediately grabbed the purple crayon. My poor horrified Sunday School teacher immediately intervened and told me " Rabbits are not purple. She offered other colour choices but I declined.
" No, I think my rabbit will be white"I told her, and folded my paper to take it home.
Well I had no intentions of having a white rabbit, and my mom agreed. As soon as we got home I got out my Crayola's and got to work and coloured my Purple rabbit.
I think I may frame it and give it to the cree princess. With a story. About imagination and Rainbow rabbits.

My six year-old daughter love to draw rainbows. Even if all she has is a pencil and paper..she will draw a rainbow. And don't you dare tell her it's only gray.

I am proud of you that even as a little girl you would not allow another, even an adult, to stifle your creativity. Your momma raised you well.

YOU DO THAT!

I can't believe they tried to stiffle your creativity! Rabbits in a childs mind are wahtever they want it to be.

I got in Trouble in grade one for not listening. My house had no siding and was covered in tar paper, and I was embrassed about it. the first grade teacher wanted to see what our homes looked like. So I coloured my house a bright red with blue windows and a yellow roof and one kid KNEW what it looked like and told on me. I refused to cahnge it and got put in the conner. TOugh SHit I thought. It's MY HOME and I can colour any ways I want.

Thus lead me down the road to being an Artist of sorts!

Oshee and SCM I too was tramatized in grade one, for creativity. No corner for me though, my desk was paced outside in the hall.

jumping puddles. In Canada there are white rabbits. They change color. Brown in summer, white to blend in with the snow. Really.
