Home grown terror
17 individuals, were arrested over the weekend, in Ontario, suspected members of a home grown terror cell.
Many (if not all) were Canadian born and raised.
6 apparently prayed at the same mosque.
Conspiring to purchase 3 tons of ammonium nitrate with alleged targets being government buildings in Southern Ontario.
It is disturbing but not surprising that Canada is a target for terrorist activities.
Almost as disturbing to me is what I have seen on TV as responses from the Muslim community. Almost immediately Muslim leaders were standing in front of TV cameras and demanding tolerance for the Canadian Muslim community.
I've heard statements from them about what wonderful young men they are, what wonderful families they come from, how we need to support these families. I've seen family members interviewed, saying this is entrapment, a mistake, that their wonderful husbands and sons would never do this.
I have not, yet, however heard one statement from one interviewed Muslim that addresses the terrorist problem within the Muslim Community. Not one statement that said, " We do not know of the specifics of this case, but we denounce Terrorism, and will make all attempts to purge it from our community. It has no place here."
Instead the Muslim community expects tolerance.
I am tolerant, but when I hear no mention from the Muslim community about their thankfulness or relief that a tragedy was stopped, I wonder if indeed they support these militants with their blindness, the love of their own religion blinding them to the faults and flaws of it's membership.
Tolerance is a concern, that all Muslims should not be painted with the same brush, but perhaps the initiative of these Muslims Leaders should be in the direction of non tolerance of the enemy within their own mosques.
Muslims do themselves no favor when they plea for tolerance, but do not address the terrorists issue that plague their community. Who better to weed out these militant creeps, than their own community. Smoke them out, and turn them in.
It is like keeping a rotten apple in a barrel.
They say, but is our apple, we love this apple, it is a fine apple, a McIntosh Apple, just like all of us.
And soon the whole flippin barrel is rotten.
And intolerable.
*A committment from Canadian Muslims that they will do everything in their power to stop these monsters , and seeing that committment in action would go a long way in promoting tolerance.

It reminds me alot of the serial killers family: "It must all be a mistake, he is such a kind and loving boy."

In any case, I agree. They certaintly are not doing themselves any favors by ignoring what is going on within. It is common though for many to ignore what is happening within. They are not unique.

Hopefully a leader will step up and say that this is not right and that they will take steps to bring it to an end.

The same has been true here in the USA. Very few muslim groups speak out against the terrorism.

On a lighter note...

Have fun with it...unless of course you've already done this one, or just don't have the time right now.

Just a thought, but I wonder if the Muslims are not addressing it because they don't feel the belief of the boys is why they chose to be terrorists? Like It's not the primary cause and they do not think that the religion had anything to do with why they decided to do what they did?

Granted, it still isn't smart of them to not say anything at all.

Ok...flame away, but remember..I really do agree with Hope that they should have said something. I'm just rambling a bit.
