An Open Apology.....
to all my family, friends and acquaintances that have proceeded before me.
Age brings maturity and an opportunity for reflection,
and for this I am deeply grateful.
In the past, I have done some things, that upon reflection, I never should have done. I count them among my many mistakes of youth.
Life lessons.
I feel today, an urgent need to apologize,
I won't list your names, you know who you are.
I deeply regret and apologize for:
- posting the picture of your butt in a Lycra baseball uniform in the local paper.
- having them sing Happy Birthday to you at Montana's restaurant, where they make you wear huge buffalo horns while taking your picture to post at the entrance.
- taking said picture and posting it in the local paper the next year.
- telling them that you were 5 years older than you were.
- plastering flamingos all over your work site,
- filling your car with helium balloons and silly string,
- putting the bumper sticker that says "Honk if I drive like an old woman" on your car.
- letting you show up for your surprise party wearing pajama pants and a bikini top.
- the 10 km of signs you had to read on your way in to work.
- the emails I sent to your office/home etc.
- telling cashiers that you qualify for the seniors discount.
- sending an announcement to the radio station and to global TV. At least you won a cake. I had no idea a singing clown would deliver it.
- singing many off key "happy birthday to you 's" on your message machines. If you'd been there to pick up I would have just said it.
- referring you to a seniors on line dating service.
- creatively using photoshop to make a "My life so far " Scrapbook for your birthday.
- ditto for the posters.
- and for any other offence I have committed.
It's true, confession and absolution is good for the soul.
I feel much better.
And I know my friends and colleagues will accept this apology with the sincerity it was offered,
and I will have no worries when I open my eyes tomorrow and it is my birthday.
Now can someone tell me, who left this on my back porch?
whoops you'll have to wait.... blogger won't let me post a picture!!!

Ah, c'mon - say it with a little more sincerity. 'Cause I seriously doubt whether you regret ANY of those things - the twinkle in your eye gives you away.
Happy Birthday Hope! You sound like a blast to hang out with!
