I scheduled today to be at home, to do catch up.
Although I always meet my timelines, alot of time they are
"just in the nick of time-lines".

I am a procrastinator.
But only a part time procrastinator.
I only put off the things I hate doing.
When I am doing the things I hate doing,
I am inclined to get off task very easily.
I pay for this by stressing out over my deadlines,
and planning into great detail the very last moment
that I absolutely must get this dreaded(whatever) task done.
I think this the the single most contributing stresser in my life.
While I am avoiding the stack of financial papers
that I must have a knowledgeable understanding of by Monday, I blog.
But do I have a great time blogging......nope
cause those damn papers are sitting square on my shoulders,
calling me, taunting me.
refusing to be ignored.

Watch me.

There are a few things you could help me with, that I have been putting off.

  • A new digital camera ( 400.00 range) Mine fell off the table when I was downloading. I really want a new camera, but I detest going into electronic shops, and am highly inclined to ask" what would you buy your mother/wife /sister/girlfriend", than ask any question involving function. I am immediately bored by technical talk. I don't get it. I have made purchases based on a 16 year old commissioned salesman's assurance that this is just what I needed. I can't send my husband to an electronic store. He already collects their flyers that come in the mail, which he keeps tucked in the side of the sofa. He's just dying to have a reason to go. Any suggestions on a good camera?
  • Cleaning my sewing room/craft/ hobby room . Testament to both my creativity and my ability to rationalize that "this will have a great use and someday I'll get to it" Stained glass, quilting fabric, willow projects, knitting, sweaters to rip apart to knit, stamping, calligraphy every nook crammed with projects, ideas for projects, completed projects with nowhere to go. And of course not one lick of work space. I'd take a picture, but I don't have a camera. Any ideas on how I can come to terms with this monster????
  • Starting to get organized for Christmas. I love the Christmas season. I dread the weeks of preparation. Is it too late to shop on line. Anyone have the ins and outs?? I have never, ever shopped on line. Keep it simple ;-). What a load off me, to not have to step into a mall. I've got enough wrapping paper for the next decade of holidays. In my craft room. Any other "keep it simple and real" ideas out there for the holiday... I'm open to suggestions.

My last possible moment to begin going through these financial papers approaches..... Once I get caught up I promise I'll stay caught up. Any great, practical books on this??

Addendum:

And a much more pressing quandry.

I have some pond fish, which live in a big plastic tub over the winter.

Last night I noticed one of them doing the back float.

When I checked on him a while ago, it was clear he was destined for the big flush.

But when I dumped him in the toliet, he perked right up.

He now swims merrily in the toliet bowl.

I don't have the heart to flush him,

I'm sure he'll be dead as soon as the cold water jolt wears off,

but am I torturing this poor goldfish or am i merely torturing myself?

I did most of my Christmas shopping on line last year (I haven't started yet, but I plan on doing so soon) and, apart from one panicky moment where I was sure a package wasn't going to arrive on time (it did) I loved every minute of it. I absolutely loathe going to the mall. Most stores have 2-day shipping, and free shipping if you order a certain dollar amount.

I enjoyed this!!

I am also sometimes put off things (like bookwork/financial stuff).

Poor fish.....did he stay perked up or did he get the big swirly?

LOL!!! Your addendum just reinforces your first line, second paragraph! Your fish took you away from those financial papers. BTW, please don't flush it while it's happily swimming!!

lol liz... busted, you are exactly right.I got 1/2 way through and i thought, gee i should go see about that fish... financial papers ingored. No worries about us hastening the deed, none of us has the heart.. The downstairs bathroom has been turned into a fish hospice.

I am laughing about the fish.

As for cameras, you can't go wrong with a Canon.

I think I looked at eopinions.com to get a rough guess at what I liked, then googled camera recommendations or something of the such.

Financial papers and me do not get along.

Timely that I should look at your blog tonight...as I just got done FINALLY (after weeks and weeks and weeks of putting it off) just spent about 4 hours doing financial CRAP. ERRRGG - I hate doing paperwork and I can find every reason in the world not to do it - postponing it for one more night (which turns into one more month, etc.)
OK - camera - I HIGHLY recommend the Canon S21S - it is what I have...and you have seen all the photos I take. it is EASY to use and takes FANTASTIC and I mean FANTASTIC quality pictures. I know I paid between $400 and $500 for it...check out b&h photo in New York City. www.bhphotovideo.com is the website I believe. That is where I bought mine. Its a huge store and they have tons. I bought that camera last year..so I think there is a newer model out. So the price on it may be cheaper now..but I would expect it would still run you about $450 or so...but well worth it! Good luck!

oh my gosh I am laughing about the fish. Isnt that always the way! lol oh my gosh, you cant flush him, unless he is dead! lol

The camera Canon.... my sons talk about nothing else. Online shopping Rocks! It is not to late. Depending who you are shopping for would depend on the site. I love Plow and Hearth personally... lol

I hope you get your dreaded project done. I myself understand fully.

Ohhh and the craft room, well shut the door and pretend it is cleaned out! lol Its what I would do.

I really like my digital camera. I've used several different kinds from various workplaces I've been, and one of the things I was determined to avoid when I bought one was the delay factor. Some cameras have delay so that when you click the shutter release, it waits about a second before it takes the picture. By that time, a whirling dirvish of a 4 year old can be out of the frame.

Mine is a Kodak EasyShare Z740. It's in the $400 range. And it's one of the only ones in that range that has a 10X zoom instead of just 3 or 4X. All the pics on my blog are taken with it, and I will send you the pic of you and I in the restaurant so you can see a sample. :-)

About finances, we've been doing the Total Money Makeover and it has already made a huge difference for us. I'm feeling much more relaxed about finances because I have a simple budget and a plan. It's good for non-financial brains like mine.
