I wish I could show you my sunrise.
Brilliant reds, pinks and oranges streak the icy indigo sky to the east,
breathtaking really.
The Cree Princess is still asleep in the middle of our bed.
Although she is a trial to get to sleep,
in the morning all you have to do is give her a snuggle,
tell her it's not time to get up,
and she smiles that sleepy little smile and is back to sleep.
She is a child who does not like to sleep alone.
No matter what production and provision is made for her at bedtime,
she always makes her way to our room in the middle of the night.
She has done this with her mom since she was out of the crib.
She is a cuddle child, one that burrows so close
that you can feel
her restful breathing.

Last night she made 4 adults wipe tears of pride from their eyes when she danced her first jazz routine in front of 800 captive relatives and friends of her dance studio. She had announced that morning she was quitting jazz dance, nerves, no doubt, from the upcoming performance. But she did it. Never taking her eyes off the teacher, her and 4 other little girls delighted us with their enthusiasm.

And now she sleeps the sweet sleep of Princess Dancing Toes,
in the middle of my bed.
Under a brilliant sunrise.

Aren't recitals the most delightful things? They always brings tears to my eyes too.
