Leftover Friday
As I had my head in the fridge, scrounging out supper, I thought that perhaps Fridays could be reserved for leftovers for my blog, as well as my table.
  • I have a computer hangover. I climbed a steep learning curve yesterday. It all started when I got mad at the spammers and made a poll. Then I wanted a Countdown to Spring Solstice. In the process I messed up my template and had to change to the new blogger version. I don't know what difference it is, but i spent a good while trying to remember my sign in name and password to get back in. I started to try to link, but I couldn't figure out how to get an address for a post. Sigh.... help. And the highlight thing confuses me, cause when I push highlight, a window comes up on my screen. Can you see how deep I'm in......the fact that I was able to correct my errors, and bring you Procrastination Station on my sidebar amazes me. Perhaps I'll do a poll about which games you like best......lol...not today anyway.
  • In December I told you about my daughter and N. Heather made a comment that my daughter needed to ask herself "is my life better with him in it and can I live with his flaws for the rest of his life. "I passed this wisdom on to my daughter, and she has pondered this question for the last couple of months. My daughter and N are "back in negotiations" as she puts it. :) Thank you Heather, and each of you for commenting on my blog. I really do listen.
  • This is a tough one, and it's been bugging me for a while..... so Gina, sit down, I'm just gonna come right out and say it. My husband bought a SUV (2004 KIA Sorento) in January. There, I said it. I felt really bad reading some of Gina's posts and not admitting it. But I'm doing it now. Please don't take me off your links list. If you want to send me a bumpersticker, I promise Ill sneak it on.
  • I added PONG and Where's Wilma to my Procrastination Station. My husband and I were just married when the original PONG came out. It cost 100.00 and I earned 90 a week. We still bought one.I had my first computer hangover while trying to master the easy level. i never got much better.

Supper leftovers await the microwave, and the boys are hoovering.

happy friday.

Hope, to highlight a word or phrase in your text (when with a new post), just put your cursor in front of the words at the start of what you want to highlight, hold down the left click (on your mouse) and drag it across the text until the end of what you want to highlight (this should make that whole text darker or "highlighted"). Then go up to the "link" button that I descibed in the email I sent you.

The address that you want to link, you also highlight it from up in the www. bar at the top of your screen. You have to do the same thing...drag your cursor across it to darken it (highlight) then right click (your mouse) and hit "copy".

Then when you highlight for your link back in the text (step 1 above) and the little window opens (how I described in my email), left click in the URL box and when the cursor is there, right click and hit "paste".

Don't make me come up there woman!!!

But if I have to I will! LOL!!!

(practise in a fake entry...you'll get it!)

Oh and by the way, I don't think the Kia Sorento is anywhere near the same league as the Hummers and other huge SUVs that are out there, like the Suburbans and the Expeditions.

You guys need 4-wheel drive up there...the "big shots" in LA don't.

I don't think Gina would blame you at all for that!

Wow! I've never played the role of relationship expert before! Perhaps I should start a "Dear Heather" column in the local paper!

I hope your daughter finds a love that feels (most of the time) like a warm blanket on a cold night. That's about the best anyone can ask for.

Oh, and I'm impressed with your ability to add things to your side bar! That's what baffles me the most.

Of course I wouldn't drop you from my blogroll! I do understand that people who live in certain areas need 4WD vehicles, and I think you guys with all the snow would definitely count!

But like Liz said, the people that drive around here just drive on the freeway, so they certainly don't need their huge Escalades and Hummers. I think that's why I get so frustrated about it, because there just is no need for something like that around here. They just flaunt their wealth and/or willful stupidity.

liz,
I'm going to try to bring myself back this weekend to practice the link stuff. Blogging has actually given me a reason to want to make the computer my friend.

gina,
You are right, and I knew that, but I still felt bad not saying it. I thought if i said, my guy drives an suv I'd have to give a great big explanation, which would have been exactly liz and your points. Leftover Friday was a good way to spit it out.
Heather,
the points you made were a marvelous checklist, two simple questions, many avenues to explore.
They will be ones i always remember.
BG,
you know the buzzed feeling, right?.....
As for my daughter negotiating with N, that's my girl. She is approaching marriage, commitment and sharing parenting with as much
clarity as she did when she bought her house, her car, etc. This is no emotional fool.....lol, I wish I had these skills at an earlier stage in my life. Now give her an animal and that's another story...
perhaps some amusing posts.

I love your whole left over idea! Hate to admit it, but yesterday I came to you page and screamed at the screen! PONG was added, and I thought omgosh I now will never leave! laughs.... I instantly went into withdrawls when I forced myself to leave your page. Now I am thinking i might just have to add pong to my page.... just so you do not think I am stalking ya. laughs.
