actually, tonight, a community country potluck.....
yum.....and yawn.
TGIF.......
- My husband and I made a bet. It started out as a discussion, turned disagreement, then the ultimatum..... "how much do you want to bet..... ?" he challenges"100 bucks" I offer, smug in my insistence that we own 3.87 acres of land, while he insists we have 4.3 something. This is easy money. Just as he reaches to shake my hand, I up the offer, "how about that Miata", I tease, he hesitates and counters with a set of Calloway something or other golf clubs. I jump on it as he goes about rummaging thru his archaic filing system for our title. My son comes down stairs and says what are you looking for?, and I laugh and say "your dad just made the stupidest bet of his life". In less than 30 seconds, I owe him a set of clubs. And my son is mocking me.
- I had a week of weary battles. Today I went to the Cree Princess' school assembly. Her school is a small school, very multi cultural, many children of immigrant families. When the piano started playing "O Canada", and everyone started singing , I choked up. By the time we sang the line "God, keep our land, glorious and free........." I lost it. My daughter elbowed me, frowned and handed me a Kleenex. She should be used to me by now. Do mothers ever stop embarrassing their daughters? Sometimes I am just so overwhelmed that I am so very lucky to be a Canadian. I love Canada.
- I have to remember that, because this weekend I am doing my income taxes. They are due Monday. I always promise to do this at the first opportunity, but never do. We pay a lot of taxes in Canada, but the truth is I don't begrudge my contribution to this great country, I just often wish they would spend it a little differently and a little more cautiously.
- Gorgeous weather and my crocuses are finally up. Spring has arrived, just in time for soccer season. As his dad is coach, I am not obliged to come to the crappy weather games. I will be a fair weather fan.
- I have not watched tv for 2.5 days, with the exception of Survivor. Somehow, over this winter, I became an unmotivated couch potato, especially since discovering the slice channel. So I cut myself off. Cold Turkey. Except Survivor. That ain't gonna happen. Not spending so much time in front of the tv has been great. I have so much energy. The wonderful Spring weather helps.................
My son just poked his head down to say goodnight, and as he shut the door I heard him say in a high voice......................."your dad just made the stupidest bet of his life".
sigh.
have a great weekend.

It sounds like you are starting to piece things back together. I like the no TV idea...only it's gotten hot here.
Pretty cool that you gained a 1/2 acre in 30 seconds though. I'd rather have the land than the Miata.
I lost a lot of power when my daughter told me I no longer embarass her. I'll just have to try harder. ;-)
Enjoy your early spring!
lol the bet was hilarious
Hope your weekend was great and you have finally lived your bet down.
awww sorry you lost the bet! dang!!
yesterday I threatened to shoot the TV w/ the 12 gauge but realized it was Soprano night---that changed my mind
That is too funny...oops - that will cost ya!
