Nice job!

Just a minor correction before we can officially adopt you as an honorary Fried green 'maters cookin' Rebel Momma.

It's not "shurrre". It's "Shore".

"Them SHORE was sum good fried green 'maters!"

Now practice and we'll let you in. ;)

Glad you enjoyed them. I'm gonna have to pass on the "deep fried seal blubber" though. I'm pretty sure I'd get kicked outta the "good 'ol boy club"!

Mmm, those look good. What's your dipping sauce? Looks like it has dill in it.

you are right liz, my favorite, ranch dill dressing, from Costco. If you like dill you shouldn't be intimidated by the jumbo bottle. it goes fast around here.

Thanks w3!!! I'll practice... but here's the problem.... thinking about the 'maters and i thought... where the heck goes one get green tomatoes around here. this is a two week window here, those babies are ripening fast. :)

You gotta grow 'em, or know someone who does. You can't buy them, except in various local "mom & pop" type restaurants, and then only in the Summer. Sometimes we'll luck up and find a nice green one or two at the farmer's market, but never at the grocery store. Roadside produce sellers are also a good place to pick up some good fryin' 'maters.

They're "seasonal" delicacies, one of the things that make our sweltering summers bearable. That bacon grease is good for 'taters too. Cut 'em up and fry 'em the same way, only without the corn meal. Mmmmmm mmmmm good!

We got some good eats down here. Maybe next, I'll introduce you to the noble "fried 'nanner sandwich"...it's what killed Elvis, ya know? Or maybe the fine art of brewing sweet tea. Yessiree, it's a southern thang! Somehow this novel idea hasn't caught on up north of the Mason Dixon line. Not sure why. Them poor souls up there keep dumping sugar in iced cold tea watching dismayed as it drifts to the bottom of their glasses.

When I was a kid, my best friend's grandfather used to make Fried Green Tomatoes. They were so good.
