Three times today my phone has rung, I have interrupted what I was doing.The first two times it went like this:
Ring Ring
"Hello"
Silence
"Hello"
Silence
Then:
"May I speak to Hope"
"This is Hope"
"Hope, this is **** from****,how are you today?"
"Busy"
"Great to hear that, the reason I'm calling Hope is*****"
"I'm not interested thanks"
I hang up.
At the time of the third call I was in the middle of getting supper ready
Ring Ring
"Hello"
Silence
"Hello"
Silence (I fume!)
Then:
"Hello, May I speak to Hope"
Hope: "Just one minute please"
I put down the phone, and wait. Three deep yoga breaths, and pick up the phone
Hope" She'll just be a minute"
Three more deep yoga breaths,I'm really enjoying this.
Hope:" Could I ask who's calling please"
"This is *** from ***"
Hope: "OK just a minute."
I don't even do the yoga breaths, I pour a cup of coffee and pick up the phone
"Hi ,this is Hope"
" Hope this is *** from ***, how are you today?"
"Great" I say, "but I'm not interested"
Although I may never rid our home of these nasty nuisances sometimes it feels good to annoy them back! Any ideas?

I love to hand the phone to my wife and tell her it is for her. It all depends on my mood how I handle them. Sometimes nasty and sometimes politely. I like what you did though.
I just read about the calf and your son. I knew a man that waited until his family had gone somewhere and then loaded it into the truck, got it butchered and enjoyed steak for quite a while. Each time someone would ask if anyone had seen the animal he just shrugged his shoulders and acted stupid. (Not a hard thing for him)

That is good HOpe! Love the ideas. I also love wight wing wadical's idea also. Yea, give me your HOME number and I'll get back to ya! I'll have to try these. I don't even give these poor guys/gals a chance. My time is valuable and I don't waste even a few minutes of it listening to their ramblings. Good for you guys!
