Nice Try

A while back, my husband's best friend from junior high, got a little carried away at a golf tournament silent auction. He ended up paying just under $3,000.00 for a week's vacation, in a condo, on a beautiful golf course, in Arizona. Air fare and golf fees not included, so therefore, 3000.00 for a condo.

Although he is impulsive, he thinks quick on his feet and almost immediately came up with a plan.He would tell his wife, my friend, that he did it for her.

My friend related it to me this way, when she called me to give me a heads up.

Friend: So (R) comes home in a cab,a little tipsy with the second place trophy and an envelope in his hand.

(R): Man I had a great round, could've won first,except I had a terrible back 9.
But you know what, I felt so good, I thought I'd buy you that winter vacation you've been talking about.
(F): Really, that's great.
(R) Yep, came across a great deal and thought we'd ask Hope and her husband to join us.
(F) So where are we going?
He hands her the envelope
To keep private things private I cannot repeat any more of the conversation.

Now all you golfers out there may think, a week, in a condo, on a golf course, away from the cold an ideal holiday.

My friend doesn't golf. Neither do I.
We also, do not consider staying in a condo, on a golf course ,waiting for said men to get off the course just in time for supper, much of a holiday. In fact it doesn't sound any different from home.

Now my husband, he's smart. From experience.

To me he posed it a different way:

Husband: Man (R) got himself in a little trouble with (F)
Hope: Really?? ( feigning ignorance), what happened?
(H) Well he bought a condo package, and now (F)'s mad at him, so I thought I go with him to help keep the costs down.
Hope: Really? That's nice of you.
(H): You wouldn't want to go, hey?
Hope: Not in a million years.
(H) Yeah, I knew that but you don't mind if I go , right. I mean I hate to see (R) stuck.
Hope: You're a good friend. And you owe me one.

And so our men are polishing their clubs and heading off to Arizona next weekend.

I'm holding out for all inclusive.

I know I am a bit "wadical" but $3000.00 will get you airfare to Vegas and 5 fun filled days of instruction in the "Armed Citizen" course at the Frontsight Ranch. You will be a formidable opponent to any would be attacker.

Golf is OK I guess. But imagine taking a "winter vacation" to the wonderland that is Frontsight. Your husband would come home and say "Hey honey, I shot a 70...man I owned that golf course, I was in the zone, baby...How was your vacation?" You could say "I shot about 2000 rounds of lead and earned a master pistol rating from one of the world's most renowned firarms instructions facilities."

I gotta stop....I'm turning myself on.

wight..you are funny. They have great shooting ranges here in Arizona too. Hope, if you were into baseball you could come and enjoy the World Baseball classic. That is starting soon. Basketball is lots of fun here right now. We could've had lunch! lol Oh, a lot of the golfcourse resorts have great Spas! Or so I've heard. Who has the money for such things? Oh well, I hope you enjoy the time apart. My husband is off camping tonight with a scout group. The kids are in bed and the house is silent. Few things are so wonderful.
