If I posted recognizable pictures on my blog, today you would see a twelve year old boy with a shy smile and shining eyes.
His brown tanned skin is a startling contrast to his white blond hair.
He would be dressed in something grass stained and slightly messy, and there would be some piece of sports equipment in his hand or near by.
Guaranteed there would be holes in his socks.
What you would not see in a photo, is what an incredible young boy he is.
He is my easy child. Even and calm.
He is big on family and friends, and has many people that adore him.
He is a boy who younger children are drawn to, out of a crowd of kids, he'll be the one who little boys follow around and hero worship, and little girls will hold his hand and lead him around.
And he lets them.
He is an old soul, very wise and caring about people and injustice, accepting of differences but not easily swayed.
He loves deeply, though is just beginning to blush at open affection.
And , like George Washington, he cannot tell a lie.
And today he is twelve.

Happy Birthday to your boy. He sounds a lot like my 8 yr-old. I hope my son continues to mature and grow as your son obviously has.
