I have been caught up in a manic phase ,
which started with me wanting to reclaim my sunroom,
and turned into major home upheaval.
The kind of upheaval that my husband walks into from work,
looks around and wants to run back out the door.
For three solid days, I have torn apart my house with a vengeance.
23 garbage bags to the charity bins, (and there's way more to go)
and my boys are actually putting their stuff away
for fear they will have to buy it back from Value Village.
Things I have hung onto for far too long, gone.
Office reorganized, computers moved.....
(thus my absence, I am much better at taking apart than putting together.)
as I am cleaning and sorting and organizing, I remember
George Carlin's ( now an old comedian, but very out there in his time)
stand up routine.........

Wouldn't want somebody to come by and take some of your stuff.
They always take the good stuff.
They never bother with that crap you're saving.
All they want is the shiny stuff.
That's what your house is, a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get...more stuff! Sometimes you gotta move, gotta get a bigger house.
Why?
No room for your stuff anymore.

LOL I remember watching him do that routine, and laughed so hard I could not breath, because I have toooo much stuff! I agree with you, we all have to much stuff, that we do not need! I should do some hoeing out myself. Fortunately I will have to go through everything soon when I am moving for the umpteenth time. I think that is the only real good thing about moving, is it forces me to get rid of all the junk.
I remember that routine as well. Very funny.
I did a big stuff removal last year, but I think it's all been replaced because there's still stuff all over the place.

I love Carlin's Stuff bit.
Carlin! Now I feel old! The other day I was watching an episode of "That Girl" from the early 60's and Carlin had a recurring role on that show. I told my daughter that the guy on the show was a young George Carlin and she said "Who the hell is George Carlin?" makes ya feel real old real fast. Can u come clean house for us when you are done?
I think most people have way too much stuff, me included.
I did quite a bit of this before Christmas. But ever since the holidays, I've been in a funk. I've not done much of anything. I am happy to see you are doing well.
