Friday's leftovers........

  • Although I didn't watch the Oscars, I did hear Monday talk radio....
Seeing as An Inconvenient Truth won, Al Gore took the hot seat. The Topic? Gore's 20 plus bedroom house in Nashville purportedly uses as much hydro in a month as a typical family does in a year. (They apparently have a mole in Nashville Hydro.)
    Yada, yada, yada.
But it does remind me that when you choose to be a leader, it's all about your actions.
When you choose to be a teacher, it's all about what you model.
It ain't about what we say folks, it's about what we do.
  • The special edition of Deal or No Deal Canada just ended. Did you know we don't pay taxes on our gambling, lottery or game show winnings up here? Nope, no one red cent. We're taxed up the yahoo for everything else, but if we win it, it's ours. If I ever bought lotto tickets, and I ever won, I might be able to take advantage of this huge "tax loop hole "we have.
  • It's tax time and I'm in denial and avoidance mode.
  • Last weeks 20/20 talked about stress..... are we more stressed than ever? Opinion seemed to be that every generation seems to think the good old days were better, but in fact quality of life is better now than it ever has been. Do you agree?
  • When my daughter as born, I had visions of dressing her in all kinds of wonderful outfits, and until she learned to dress herself, I was able to do just that. When she learned to dress herself, she flat out refused any help in choice of clothing. As a day care director, there were many times I was embarrassed by pink fluffy socks and toe thongs, lime green shirts and red skirts, and other such colourful outfits. But I let it go. It wasn't worth the fight, and I could spot her in a crowd from a hundred yards. I was delighted when the Cree Princess visited yesterday, bringing me a rainbow of colour. "She picked her own clothes "my daughter explained as we exchanged winks.
  • I was intending on saying that I don't hate blogger as much as I did last week. I've not had one spammer since I was forced to switch. But I'm taking it back. I had a delightful picture of the Cree princess' orange and blue tiered skirt, and hot pink tights, but blogger won't let me post it. The outfit was a doozy. Think sunglasses. Think payback.
  • Watch my Weather girl toss her coat and put on some rubber boots cause we are expecting 10 C this weekend....that's PLUS TEN. It ain't Florida weather but spring is in the air.
  • And speaking of the weekend, ...... more hockey, but I have something extra to look forward to. Tomorrow, my volunteer task is my favorite hockey job ever. Read about my first experience (here) . I'm amazed they're letting me back in there!

have a great one.

Your linked post is hilarious!! I don't know how I missed that one!

From my experience, I don't believe that the quality of life is better for this generation than the previous one. I don't think we have the same sense of security that my parents had.

I'm sure they started out with the same kind of stress that any young family has, but they had something we don't have now. Job security and employer loyalty. These days, it's very rare that someone can work their way up through a company for 40 years and have a comfortable retirement. Just about everyone I know my age has had several jobs and been laid off more than once.

Talk about stress!

Yes, Canada is taxed on everything, good thing you get a break on winnings :)

Gore-gah! another pretend do-gooder.

I have such a strong dislike for politicians! if an honest one came along, I think I am so jaded I wouldnt know it.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
