The most hated household chore in blogdom seems to be laundry.
At least 3 of my blogpals have it in their profile.
Considering that profiles are really brief,
if it makes it to your profile, it must be important right?
Anyway, I don't mind laundry, in fact truth be told,
I like doing laundry, but that's another post.
My most hated chore?
Windows.
And I have a lot of them.
High ones.
Big ones.
Dirty ones.
Streaky ones.
Over the years I have tried many, many things to clean my windows.
The best thing was using window cleaning rather than grounding ,as a consequence for my then teenage daughter.
3 and a half years of "raising a teenage girl hell" , but at least my windows were clean.
And so the time has come to let in the sunshine, wash off the winter grime.
But, I suck at streak -free windows.
I don't mind the work, cause it's actually fun getting out on a spring day, and doing some scrubby -dubbing, but how the heck do you make them actually shine?
Help me out here guys.
My son isn't anywhere near the challenge his sister was ,
so it looks like I'm on window duty.

I hate windows as well. Most of mine have smears at right about dog nose height. And for some reason, I always have lips on the windows, like someone has been kissing them(??).
I find that using white vinegar and newspaper works the best. Paper towels leave streaks.
Liz beat me to it. Newspaper rules for cleaning windows. No squeegee, sponge or soft cloth could ever hold a candle to the streak-free results obtained with the daily fish wrapper. Any cheap glass cleaner will do. Vinegar works...even straight water will work with newsprint.
Ugh. I hate windows too. It would probably be up there close to laundry, except that I don't have to do it as often so "out of sight out of mind."
ack! I hate washing windows too.
mine are looking kind of smudged too
I dont have a teenage daughter. dang it.
but I DO have a teenaged son!
So, newspaper and vinegar it is, I've set a goal of at least one window, (in and out) a day, streak free til they are done. I'll be done around the end of May.
Thanks guys!!!
I LOVE cleaning windows. Skip the vinegar, except for salad dressing. And use newspapers for reading the news. A bucket of water, a few drops of dish washing detergent, and a good squeegee makes for clean windows in a flash!

Although I tend to be more vocal about the laundry pergatory each week (about 8 to 10 loads w/o bedding), I don't do windows. I seldom do walls, fridge, stove and don't do dusting as much as I should.
Thanks for reminding me, there was a professional window washer I met during the winter that I must call for him to come clean the grime off the windows. Problem solved! Yeah!
On Saturday, I tried to get my neighbours teen grandson to come clean out the eavestroughs on my house, had even offered to pay, but he politely responded "some other time" translated from teen language to "don't hold your breath". Now I have to find someone else that can handle the heights to assist. Guess I'll have to find someone else that can handle heights.
