My granddaughter came up behind me while I was at the kitchen sink....
"Gramma, give me a great big hug......."
Happy to oblige, I dried my hands
and got down on my knees for a bear hug.
"Gramma, I love you she whispers in my ear,
as she runs her fingers across my face....
"You are the best gramma in the whole wide world,
and you are the nicest gramma.....
and I love you so much.
Your skin is so........................
.................................wrinkly"
I let out a laugh, and she pours salt in the wound....
"It's ok..... " she whispers, still rubbing my cheek tenderly,
"you must be very ,very old to be a gramma"
The third blow came as I grabbed the counter top
to pull myself up from my knees,
and I heard them creak in protest......
She looked from my eyes to my knees and back again,
pursed her lips together...
"oh dear" she said, as she reached for my hand to help me up.
I am officially ancient in someones eyes.

I think everyone is ancient in someone's eyes. Heck, according to my son, I am 100 years old.
