Today, I keep reminding myself, is indeed Friday.
The first day of Spring Break for us, no school for the next 10 days or so.
It feels like Saturday.
I'll work mostly from home next week and on Thursday we head to Banff.
- The Banff Hockey Tournament are the last hockey games of the year for us. A brief reprieve, because on the kitchen table are reminders of Soccer and Ball registration..... my son surprised his dad by saying he didn't want to play ball this year. Last spring he played both. If not for my feeling that he should be in a sport, but which sport was HIS CHOICE, I think my husband might have put a little pressure on him to play ball. My husband was a great ball player in his glory days. There is still time to choose. I think my son is feeling weary, like a lot of us, this time of year.
- I have my own reasons why I'd like him to chose ball over soccer. Soccer weather sucks. Soccer is played in ANY weather, but lightning. I've sat through snow, wind, rain, hail, huddled in a lawn chair, no protection from the elements. Ball, on the other hand is cancelled for any of the above conditions. But the boy loves soccer.
- My daughter woke up to find the Cree Princess and her black lab covered with sparkles. A Fairy Dust Experiment, gone terrible wrong. 4 baby food jars of arts and craft sparkles now cover the former bachelor pad. "Did you get a picture?" I laughed....." I thought of it", she said, "but I didn't want to reward unacceptable behaviour." By the time the conversation was over, she managed a chuckle or two. They are still moving between two houses, I think my daughter wishes she really could cover herself with Fairy Dust and make like Peter Pan.
- Everyone I know is sick, getting sick, nursing someone who is sick, or attempting to avoid those that are sick. I am in the last category. This time of year, I think we are just so depleted, from the long, sun deprived winter, the vast changes in temperature, daylight savings time, and lingering cold and flu bugs. I've been eating a ton of fruit, and have become the hand washing Nazi in our home and at work. I do not have the reserves, either physically or emotionally right now, to be sick. I'm glad it's spring. We've survived another winter. Damn we're tough.
- It is a frustrating time of year for me. Snow is melting, uncovering winters refuse, but things are still too muddy to get out and start cleaning up the yards and gardens. My tomato, pepper and flower seedlings are growing and almost ready for the greenhouse, which did not fair well this winter. Strong winds and heavy snow means some repairs are needed.
- This site, will show the majesty of Banff National Park, where we are heading on Thursday morning. While we will be playing a lot of hockey, we'll still have lots of time to enjoy the serenity this place offers. Each day we will visit this store. I first discovered this magical place when I was 8 years old, with my family. I have visited almost yearly ever since. It has not changed in size, decor, smell or personality in over 4 decades. It will be a feature post next weekend, giving gina's "See's Candy" a run for their money.
- This picture was taken off our back deck.
Sorry, I'll try later... blogger problems, but
hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,
hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,
I'm not letting it get to me,
I'll just carry on as if there's a picture HERE.
The Art of Zen Blogging.
Imagine........ A flock of returning geese spent the afternoon sunning themselves on the ice of the river. You can't see the geese, but you can see that it's melting and breaking up. A couple of hot days and rapids will begin flowing.
I've missed the sound of the rapids and of the geese.
So, Who's shutting down tomorrow for Shutdown Day?
I'm not.
I'm hoping if enough people shut down ,my dial up connection will be a little quicker.....
therefore.............. I'll catch up tomorrow . :)

I'm still hearing Canadian geese here, although I think they are headed back north now. Some stay around here most of the winter.
By "ball" do you mean baseball? If so, I love baseball, way better than soccer. It's my favorite sport.
By the way, Hope, I hope your crazy week is over. I've missed seeing you lately.
LOVE the candy stores in Banff!! Ye Olde Fudgery is a favourite too. MMmmmmm.
I like baseball much better than soccer, so we will see which one Mr. P wants to play.
